What problems are you trying to solve?

The lack of interoperability of health data across hospital departments, between different hospitals, between different provinces, and a similar lack of access for both patients and digital health companies.

Why is the problem critically chosen?

Health care spending continues to spiral out of control, and there is finally a move towards value-based care in both Canada and the United States. This necessitates real time exchange of health data and this is only possible with the necessary software infrastructure in place.

What technologies are applied to solve the problem?

FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources), HL7 v2, Amazon Web Services, Optical Character Recognition.

What have you learned and how would the technology advancement potentially or practically help?

We would solve the interoperability problem in health data for every hospital, clinic, and patient in Canada.
